About Maritime Provincial Park

Maritime Provincial Park is a scenic coastal park located along Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore, spanning over 1,500 hectares. It features a diverse landscape of white sandy beaches, rocky headlands, and forested interior sections dominated by mixed Acadian forests. The park lies adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, providing dramatic ocean views and access to quiet coves. Established to protect this unique coastal ecosystem and maritime heritage, the park preserves habitats for various seabirds, shorebirds, and marine life, including occasional seals and migrating whales offshore. Visitors can enjoy over 20 kilometers of well-maintained hiking trails ranging from easy coastal strolls to more challenging forest routes that reveal hidden coves and historic shipwreck sites. Maritime Provincial Park is also known for its excellent camping facilities situated near the ocean, offering a serene outdoor experience with opportunities for kayaking, fishing, and tidepool exploration. The park's rich history reflects an era of early European settlements and fishing outposts, with interpretive signage and nearby cultural sites. Its relatively undeveloped nature fosters solitude and natural beauty, appealing strongly to nature enthusiasts, photographers, and paddlers. Wildlife such as black bears and white-tailed deer inhabit the area, making safety and awareness important for visitors. The park is accessible year-round but is especially popular in summer and early fall when conditions are ideal for water and trail activities. Maritime Provincial Park provides a well-rounded coastal wilderness experience that highlights Nova Scotia's rugged maritime identity and natural heritage.
